Rob Ellis
Minnesota Twins Hitting Instructor

Rob Ellis is a highly sought after clinician, because of his knowledge of the baseball swing. Ellis teamed with Mike Schmidt in writing one of the best hitting instructional works of all time, "The Mike Schmidt Study, Hitting Theory, Skills and Technique".

Rob Ellis is an authority on “the evolution of the baseball swing” since the inception of the game. His explanations and comparisons of the three major hitting theories in a book he co-authored with Mike Schmidt, The Mike Schmidt Hitting Study, is unequaled and considered by many to be the best hitting work ever produced.

Rob’s study of the art of hitting involved 10 years professional experience as a player from 1971-1981. Rob played in the Major Leagues with the Milwaukee Brewers from 1971-1974. Upon completion of his playing career, he became a minor league coach in the Chicago Cubs organization in 1983. Ellis was an assistant coach at Michigan State University from 1985-1990.

Rob stepped back into pro ball as a manager for the Everett Giants (San Francisco Giants Organization) in 1991. He served as roving hitting instructor for the Baltimore Orioles from 1995-1997. Ellis was the hitting instructor for the Minnesota Twins during the 1998-1999 season.

Rob brings not only his experience, expertise, and knowledge as a hitting instructor to the OHA, but his gifted ability to convey his thoughts through words as a contributing writer.
